Baby News

I’ve been meaning to update with this news for about a month now, but time just keeps getting away from me. At our November OB/GYN appointment, we found out…

It’s a Girl!!
You can only imagine how happy and excited we are with this news, although big brother Samuel still wants her to be a boy. He thinks her name should be “Fred”.
We just had our December OB/GYN appointment, and had a super duper ultrasound to check out all her vital organs, (and most especially her heart). Everything looks wonderful, and there were no major heart defects apparent to the technician.  Because she’s still pretty small, they couldn’t rule out smaller, minor defects like small holes or issues with valves, but the major defects we were able to eliminate. We’ll have an echo of her heart done as soon as she arrives, but we’re very hopeful that her heart will turn out as healthy as lil Allan’s did. (For those of you who don’t know, I was born with several heart defects, and had open heart surgery at the age of 4. We have about a 10% chance of passing on some form of defect).
So, the news is all good so far! My blood pressure is holding steady at a reasonable level, and so far I haven’t suffered from the major edema yet, like I did last time. The main issue now is nausea and heartburn, which likes to keep me awake at night, but it’s more of an inconvenience than it is a problem. Please join us in saying prayers of thanks for all the good news so far! And keep us in your prayers that the rest of the pregnancy goes just as well.

Gary and I are so happy for you and Allan. Congratulations on the new princess. I am having fun watching you be parents. We have a new addition. A Cairn Terrier (or terror) named Ginger Snap. E-mail me sometime.
Hugs,
Pam
