Gratituesday… ah..sleep…
By bella | February 5, 2008

If you know me at all, or have been visiting this blog for awhile, you know I have three children. Not a ton of kids, by any means, and our life certainly can’t compare to people like “Jon and Kate Plus 8″, or the folks in Arkansas who have 16 or 17 and counting. But for us, 3 is plenty!Â
Having three means I don’t get nearly as much sleep as I used to get. Our middle kiddo, lil Allan, has always had “sleep issues”. He has inherited some genetics that make it hard for him to go to sleep at a “normal” time. He is a night owl, and then some. That wouldn’t be the end of the world, except his older brother is a morning person, AND now has to get up at 7:30 to get ready for school each day. Since lil Allan came along it’s been a case of burning oil on both ends for Mama, and when Martha came along, the oil was burning in the middle too. Lots of oil burning!
But, today is about being thankful.Â
I’m thankful that I’m finally getting more sleep than I have been getting in the last three years.Â
I’m thankful that Samuel has few sleep issues and sleeps through the night about 99% of the time.Â
I’m thankful that Martha has transitioned to sleeping through the night, about 95% of the time.Â
I’m thankful that lil Allan sleeps through the night about 50% of the time (ok, that’s generous, but I’m thinking positively today!).Â
I’m thankful that Martha takes excellent naps. I’m thankful that lil Allan takes good… no, often GREAT… naps. I’m thankful that Samuel is at school during naptime, making it easier for the other two to.. take naps!
It might seem like a silly thing to devote an entire post to sleeping and my thankfulness, but when you’ve been sleep deprived for over three years… sleep… it’s a GOOD thing.
What are YOU thankful for today? Post a note in my comments, or write a blog post and link us up! (You can even borrow the “gratituesday” graffic if you would like to use it!)
And be sure to check out what Laura is thankful for today…

Sleep…one of the most important things
to be thankful for. Without sleep, we would be too sleepy to be thankful for anything else!
