We had a dr. appt on Wednesday, and our c-section is scheduled! Baby Girl is due to arrive around 8 p.m. on Friday, March 23rd (unless she decides to come early on her own before that!) We’re so excited to see her, and after this weekend, we hope to have everything ready for her arrival. (I’m still working on her nursery area, but it’s almost done).
Baby Girl measured in at 6 lbs, 1 oz – which is basically the same size that lil Allan was when he came early. She is going to be a big girl, it looks like. My blood pressure is great, and there are still no signs of pre-eclampsia like last time, so we are thrilled about that.
The ultrasound tech took a 3-D picture of her face at the end of our regular ultrasound. We were in awe of the 3-D effect – watching her appear on the TV screen looking like a BABY, and not a shadow of one. Of course I cried… it was just too amazing. She is all smooshed in there so tight, I can’t imagine how she can be comfortable. No WONDER she is always moving and kicking – I would be too! Here is the picture we got… remember she is all curled up, and the side of her face on the right side of the picture is against the “wall”, so it’s a little blurry and extra smooshed. We think she will look like big brother Allan!

Have a super weekend, folks!

I’ve been meaning to update with this news for about a month now, but time just keeps getting away from me. At our November OB/GYN appointment, we found out…

It’s a Girl!!
You can only imagine how happy and excited we are with this news, although big brother Samuel still wants her to be a boy. He thinks her name should be “Fred”.
We just had our December OB/GYN appointment, and had a super duper ultrasound to check out all her vital organs, (and most especially her heart). Everything looks wonderful, and there were no major heart defects apparent to the technician.  Because she’s still pretty small, they couldn’t rule out smaller, minor defects like small holes or issues with valves, but the major defects we were able to eliminate. We’ll have an echo of her heart done as soon as she arrives, but we’re very hopeful that her heart will turn out as healthy as lil Allan’s did. (For those of you who don’t know, I was born with several heart defects, and had open heart surgery at the age of 4. We have about a 10% chance of passing on some form of defect).
So, the news is all good so far! My blood pressure is holding steady at a reasonable level, and so far I haven’t suffered from the major edema yet, like I did last time. The main issue now is nausea and heartburn, which likes to keep me awake at night, but it’s more of an inconvenience than it is a problem. Please join us in saying prayers of thanks for all the good news so far! And keep us in your prayers that the rest of the pregnancy goes just as well.
