WFMW – I still got nothin’
By bella | April 9, 2008
Man alive, I am so bad at thinking up tips for WFMW. I think and I think, and I think some more. And nothing. Sad, isn’t it?
But, today it’s ok. Because my friend Laura has written a fabulous WFMW post, and you can go read THAT instead!
And now I’ll get back to thinking… cause what’s more fun than sitting around your living room wondering if ANYTHING works for you? Oh, it’s a thrill a minute around here, yes indeed.

Gratituesday – my wonderful hubby edition
By bella | April 7, 2008

38 years ago, on April 8, 1970, my wonderful husband was born. Only God knows how thankful I am for Allan, although I do try try to show Allan so he has SOME idea. How fun that his birthday falls on a Tuesday, so I can devote an entire Gratituesday post to him.
So, a few of the reasons I’m thankful for my husband:
1. He is light-hearted and fun and relaxed about most things, and he helps me to be less serious.
2. He makes me laugh regularly, and he encourages the kids to laugh regularly.
3. He works hard so that I can stay home with our kids, and he is willing to do whatever it takes to keep things that way.
4. He has a really big heart, and he is sensitive and caring (even though he puts on a really tough guy front some times).
5. He treasures me, and he honestly thinks I’m beautiful, AND he tells me regularly so I never forget it.
6. He takes good care of me when I don’t feel well (which unfortunately is too often), and he takes very good care of the children too. He takes seriously the vow, “in sickness and in health”.
7. He spoils me regularly – there really isn’t anything that I’ve ever wanted since I met him that he hasn’t tried to provide.
8. He is passionate about a variety of subjects, and we can talk for hours (well, we could before we had all these pesky interupting lovely children.
9. He is really talented with home improvement projects, and he is always thinking of what he can do next to improve things around here.
10. When he DOES home improvement projects, he does them WELL. As with anything else, he believes that it is worth the time and effort to do these projects right the FIRST time.
11. He adores his children, and he lets them know it all the time. He genuinely loves to spend time with his kids. Fatherhood becomes him, and it often takes my breath away when I watch him play and interact with the kids.
12. He has very strong opinions, and he is not afraid to stick to whatever he believes.
13. He is confident and sure, and he is helping our children grow in confidence.
14. He is sentimental, and he has high regard for his heritage.
15. He is willing to admit when he’s made a mistake, and he apologizes when he hurts my feelings.
16. He is super smart, and there isn’t much he doesn’t know about most any topic.
17. He is willing to cook, clean, do laundry, do the grocery shopping, and a myriad of other things to keep our home running smoothly. He’s had to do more than his fair share of that since we married, since pregnancy didn’t agree with me. He’s also HAPPY to let me do all those things instead. ![]()
18. He is not picky about what I fix for dinner. I know he would never complain about what’s on the table.
19. He has the cutest dimples ever, and thanks to his genetics, our two youngest children got them too.
20. His hugs take all kinds of stress away, and he is always willing to hug me whenever I need it.
Oh, there is so much more… really. He is not a perfect human being (how boring would THAT be), but he is just the right man for me. I’m so thankful every day to be married to him, raising children and making a home with him.
Happy Birthday, honey!!

Gratituesday – on Thursday!
By bella | April 3, 2008

Yes, I know it’s Thursday, not Tuesday, but I’m just SO grateful for this next little tidbit that I needed to post another Gratituesday edition this week.
Why am I so happy? Well, excuse me while I shout…
WE FIGURED OUT WHAT’S WRONG WITH MARTHA!!
Ok, that sounds bad – nothing is really WRONG with her, per se, but she has not been her delightful self for a couple of weeks. She hasn’t been sleeping well (understatement), and talk about CRANKY baby! Poor thing… we thought for awhile that it was all the commotion around her birthday, and the six extra people in our house for a week, and the Easter hooplah. Yeah, it may have been PARTLY that, but we have a new theory and so far it’s been proven correct.
So it turns out that she isn’t really tolerating milk all that well.
Duh mom – such a simple thing. When did we start giving her cow’s milk? Oh, about two weeks ago when this whole cranky baby thing started. So, on Tuesday night we gave her formula again for her night-time bottle, and she slept and slept and slept some more, and woke up HAPPY!Â
So we’ve gone back to formula for the time being, until we can visit with her doctor about the transition to “real” milk. It’s certainly worth the price of formula to get SLEEP AT NIGHT! (Oops, sorry for the shouting – I’m just REALLY thankful!)
Now… if we can just figure out what’s wrong with lil Allan…

So, today is WFMW – greatest hits!
By bella | April 2, 2008
Shannon gave us the challenge to pick our best WFMW post and re-post it. I don’t know if the following is the BEST, but it’s the tip I use most often! The only difference is my daughter is now 12 1/2 months!Â
So, here goes…

Ok, this is probably the silliest WFMW post ever, but I was dressing my daughter yesterday and thought, “I should share this – it might be of help to SOMEone.â€Â I may have been sleep deprived when I had that thought, but I’m going to post it anyway, just in case.
So, my baby girl (almost 11 months) likes to take her socks off – continually. We can’t get her to wear socks for ANYTHING. If she isn’t kicking them off, she’s pulling them off, (and then eating them). It’s a constant battle. Now, I’d be ok a good part of the time with letting her go barefoot, but it IS “winter†time here in Las Vegas, and it is occasionally too cool in the house for her to do that. SO, I finally had a lightbulb moment and started putting tights on her every day – not just on Sundays! She is a smart cookie, but she is not smart enough to unsnap her onsies and pull off those tights! Her feet stay covered (they are not quite as “warm†as cotton socks, but warm enough for VEGAS!), and Mama is happy, and even Granma is happy! ![]()
It works for me!

Gratituesday – thankful it’s not Monday!
By bella | April 1, 2008

Wow, I completely missed Monday FunDay yesterday, although I’m not surprised. We’ve had a pretty rough weekend, with two little ones who don’t want to sleep at night. Hubby and I are draggin’, and wondering if we have enough room in the budget for a night nanny to take care of our kids so we can get some SLEEP already! (It was slightly better last night, but still not great – mostly because we went into it so tired).
Anyway!Â
Today, I’m thankful it’s NOT Monday!
I’m thankful that my kids slept HALF the night last night!
I’m thankful for the sweet smiles they have, even when they aren’t sleeping at night!
I’m thankful that they are healthy and smart and funny, even if they have bad sleeping habits!
I’m thankful for my husband, who is a BIG, HUGE, WONDERFUL help at night, especially when the kids aren’t sleeping. (And he really is – I’m so, so lucky to have him!)
I’m thankful that writing this list is cheering me up, even if I am still tired!
I’m thankful for Laura for starting Gratituesday, and keeping it going, and for always being an inspiration, even when I’m tired and grumpy!
What are YOU thankful for?? Click on over to Laura’s blog and post a link (or post one here). Feel free to grab the Gratituesday image to put in your post!Â
I promise to visit and read what you write… after my nap!

Photo Friday – Our Little Princess
By bella | March 28, 2008
Our baby girl turned one last Saturday, and we had a lovely Princess Party for her. I picked up some adorable 4×6 size quick pages, so I could scrap these pictures really quickly. (Read more about it over at digiscrapchat.com later today). Anyway, here are a few of the pictures from the day:

WFMW – easter egg hunt idea…
By bella | March 26, 2008

Yes, I know it’s a little late to be sharing hints for Easter, but I just heard this idea from my grandmother on Sunday, and I thought it would be a good one for WFMW. If you think it’s a good idea too, you can file it away for next year’s Easter Egg hunts.
So, next year, my husband and I are going to assign colors to each one of the kids. For instance, Samuel will hunt for blue and green eggs, lil Allan will hunt for yellow and orange, and Martha will hunt for purple and pink. This will help alleviate the issues with the age gaps (they will be 7, 4, and 2) and keep the boys from rushing to get all the eggs before Martha has a chance. It makes it a true HUNT, instead of an egg finding frenzy.
Now, if you have just a couple of kids with small age gaps, this may not be all that necessary, but my husband and I, we liked the idea and we think it will work for us.
What works for you? Be sure to post about it, and link up over at Shannon’s blog.
